Pakistan slide across formats as Sri Lanka and England make major gains
DUBAI: India and Australia have firmly stamped their authority across cricket formats in the latest ICC Men’s Team Rankings for 2025.
The annual update reflects results from May 2024 at 100 percent and weights previous two years at 50 percent, prompting a reshuffle that has excited fans and shaken up positions.
Australia, reigning World Test Champions, maintain their grip on Test cricket despite a trimmed lead, while India now officially lead both limited-overs formats – ODIs and T20Is – following their victorious Champions Trophy 2025 campaign in Dubai, where they outclassed New Zealand in a thrilling final.
ICC Test rankings 2025
Australia remain the number one Test team with a rating of 126, though their cushion has narrowed from 15 to 13 points. England made the biggest leap in the elite group, climbing into second place with 113 points after a successful year under Ben Stokes, winning three of their last four Test series. South Africa (111) and India (105) drop to third and fourth respectively.
Pakistan stay seventh, with no positional change, but under growing pressure from Sri Lanka (6th) and West Indies (8th). New Zealand hold fifth. Bangladesh and Zimbabwe round off the top 10, while Ireland and Afghanistan still fall short of qualification due to the required number of matches.
ICC ODI rankings 2025
India’s Champions Trophy win in Dubai has bolstered their lead at the top of the ODI rankings, rising to 124 points. New Zealand climb to second after their runner-up finish, displacing Australia to third.
Sri Lanka are the standout climbers – now in fourth – following home series wins over both India and Australia. Their rise sees them surpass Pakistan, who, despite gaining one rating point, fall to fifth. South Africa drop to sixth after a four-point loss.
Afghanistan (7th) also benefit from a consistent year, while England fall to eighth, losing key rating points. West Indies (9th) move up one place by overtaking Bangladesh (10th). The USA gained the most in rating points (+6), though they remain 15th. Oman leapfrog Canada to take 16th place.
ICC T20I rankings 2025
India top the T20I chart with a slightly reduced margin – nine points ahead of second-placed Australia. The format sees a historic moment with 100 nations now officially ranked. England sit third, followed by New Zealand, West Indies, and South Africa.
Sri Lanka’s momentum continues – now seventh – as they move ahead of Pakistan, who slip to eighth in the shortest format. Bangladesh and Afghanistan complete the top 10.
Canada jump into the top 20 with a nine-point gain. The Bahamas and Estonia record the biggest positional improvements, moving up eight and seven spots respectively.
